Building a scalable, regionalized network that leverages cloud infrastructure is a key enabler to drive this transformation. To help lead this initiative, we are seeking an innovative and hands-on network engineering leader for our Data Center Network Operations Engineering team overseeing Marriott's next generation network infrastructure including both on-prem and cloud networks as well as the global WAN. This position supports daily operations in the engineering and maintaining routing, switching, firewalling, and load-balancing network solutions. We are looking for a leader who has proven hands-on experience in: Leading network engineering teams and providing technical guidance to designing and implementing network infrastructure Engineering a large enterprise or service provider data center network in areas of routing, switching, firewalling and load balancing in both on-prem and cloud settings. Operating networks and managing to KPIs for network availability and performance. Managing IP Address resources including for IPv4, IPv6, and RFC1918 space. Driving operational processes to improve network uptime, performance, and recovery. Leveraging network instrumentation and automation to identify meaningful insights from network performance. CANDIDATE PROFILE Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field experience/certification 8+ years' experience in designing and implementing complex and creating road maps for integrated networking solutions with multitudes of technologies including routing, switching, firewalling, and load-balancing. 5+ years' experience in leading and managing technical teams. 3+ years of hands-on network operations experience. Preferred: Certification in network and/or security technologies (eg, CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, Cisco DevNet, etc.) Knowledge in network management including use of tools for element management (eg Palo Alto Panorama), performance management (eg NetScout) and automation (eg Ansible) Accomplishments in developing technology roadmaps and strategies Experience in network operations including managing changes, incidents, and problems. Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success Ability to build strong relationships and network throughout the broader IT community Understanding in the design, implementation, and operational support of mission critical products Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change Ability to research emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities Experience operating in Scaled Agile Framework Experience in creating and managing a budget that aligns to technical roadmaps. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Lead a team of high-performing network and firewall security architects and engineers to maintain our next-generation networks in data centers, third party co-location sites, and public clouds. Provide a tier III team escalation point for Network Operations incidents Manage network software, hardware, and support contract lifecycles especially for upgrades to introduce bug fixes, remediate security vulnerabilities, and prevent vendor end of support. Be accountable for driving the implementation of solutions in collaboration with the Architecture team to satisfy internal and external customer requirements in agreed upon timelines under an Agile project management framework. Oversee capacity planning of the network including for bandwidth, port availability, and network device processor capability. Optimize network performance and operational support through analysis of key performance metrics as part of the ITIL lifecycle Collaborate with Finance and Technology Business Management to create budgets to support lifecycle and capacity management. Partner with and manage vendors to deliver technical and support solutions based on contractual services agreements Work with vendors and the Test and Cert Team to assess risk for new codes and to minimize the introduction of defects into the production network. Maintain a library of process documentation for network best practices, standard operating procedures, and for incident response Driving measurable business value through the development and implementation of network automation solutions Manage the performance of the team members and provide mentorship for their growth and performance. Managing Projects and Priorities Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work for self and direct reports. Provides direction and assistance to other teams regarding projects. Determines priorities, schedules, plans and necessary resources to ensure completion of any projects on schedule. Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Thinks creatively and practically to develop, execute and implement new plans or programs. Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the quality of the teams' operations. Provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness of processes or programs. Understands and meets the needs of key stakeholders. Supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc. Leading Discipline Team Champions leaders' vision for product and service delivery. Works with direct reports and peers to develop and implement strategies and goals. Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding goals to produce desired results. Makes and executes the necessary decisions to keep team moving forward toward achievement of goals. Provides targeted and timely communication of results, achievements and challenges to direct reports, peers, and leaders. Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities Interviews and hires employees. Promotes the fair and equitable treatment of employees. Facilitates regular, ongoing communication in department (eg, staff meetings). Fosters employee commitment to providing excellent service, participates in daily stand-up meetings and models desired service behaviors in all interactions with customer and employees.
