Systems Engineer (Mid-Senior Level) - Space Programs
Responsibilities: Peraton is seeking a Mid/Senior Level Systems Engineer in support of our NASA Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract. The position will be flexible for occasional telework with some travel to the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and other NASA locations as needed. The selected candidate will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications and associated services are reliable and meet mission requirements. As prime contractor on the NASA Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution contract (SENSE) contract you will be a part of a dynamic team responsible for systems engineering, design, development, integration, test, and maintenance of a platform which will enable any mission to be supported by any service provider. The team is also responsible for the delivery of capabilities into Operations. The platform will enable NASA to provide communications and navigation services in the Near Space Region to NASA missions and other customers. This position will be responsible for the following:Developing systems engineering related documents for space communication and navigation system including - Operations concepts, requirements, system specifications, interface control document, verification and validation plans, system user's guide etc.Providing systems engineering technical support across the SENSE organization, technical working groups, peer reviews, technical interchange meetings, and periodic status coordination meetings.Applying Agile Systems Engineering process in development of Systems engineering artifacts of the state-of-the-art NASA space communication and navigation system.Supporting the systems engineering review presentations (eg, System Requirements Design Review (SRR), System Design Review (SDR), System Integration Review (SIR) etc.). These reviews are presented to upper-level NASA and Peraton management.Applying NASA standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the engineering and development life cycle.Perform analysis, design, and development of the space communication and navigation Perform technical trade studies related to space communication and navigation Participate in key decision point and other system lifecycle reviews to improve quality of deliverables and identify improvements for both that effort and for overall SENSE NSN effectiveness.Position will require up to 10% travel to other NASA facilities. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.8-10 years of experience performing as a systems engineer developing operations concepts, requirements, system specifications, system interface documents, and supporting technical reviews.Knowledge of NASA or Department of Defense system engineering lifecycle processes.This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. Desired Qualifications: Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.Prior experience working with space communication systems or NASA project.Knowledge of MBSE tools (eg Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw) and system modeling languages (eg SysML, UML).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy while understanding broader technical issues.Ability to work in both a team environment and independently as a proactive self-starter.Excellent organizational skills such as prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within critical deadlines.Strong verbal and written communication skills. For Colorado Residents: Colorado Salary Minimum: $81,000 Colorado Salary Maximum: $196,600 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
