Position: Repossession Assistant Hours of Work: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00AM-5:00PM Tuesday: 9:00AM-7:00PM Friday: 9:00AM-5:30PM To the extent permitted by law, the Company may, in its sole discretion, change the work schedule to address business needs. Work hours will depend on the business hours of the time zone serviced. Supervisory Responsibility: None Responsibilities: * Contacts branch staff and gathers necessary information and documentation to begin auto repossession processes upon receiving Repossession Approval and Assignment request from branch network. * Prepares and mails statutory notices, demand letters (via certified mail), and deficiency balance letters to customers while ensuring adherence to state guidelines. Follows up to ensure delivery to the intended party. * Uses CARS system to verify repossession companies are licensed, bonded, and insured and then contacts for repossession of customer vehicles. Uses CARS system to track progress of vehicle repossession. * Tracks inquiries, bids, and purchases of vehicles to ensure successful sale within 90 days. Follows up with vendors and branches to assist in timely sales of vehicles. * Coordinates with repossession companies and branch network to acquire necessary customer information to facilitate repossession and communicates correspondence from customers as needed. * Enters customer information updates into CIM to support branch networks in making contact with customers (change in address, phone number, work information, family contact information, etc.). * Follows collection policies and procedures of the company. * Coordinates specific work tasks interdepartmentally as well as with branches in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information. * Strictly complies with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Maryland Debt Collection Act, privacy provisions of the federal and state laws, and Confidential Financial Record law of the State of Maryland. * May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service. Required Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Two or more (2+) years of experience in an office environment. * Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. * Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word; basic knowledge of Excel and Access. * Knowledge of lending, collections, and fair practice and ethics in consumer finance. Preferred Qualifications: * Associate's Degree or two (2) years of college coursework. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
