Full Job Description Our client, a construction company located in Jessup, Maryland, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team. The Project Accountant is responsible for providing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to the Controller and managing partners. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Working knowledge of construction project accounting principles, practices, and methods and their application. Receive incoming Owner/GC construction contracts and prepare for approval: Coordinate project insurance and bond requirements with surety. Davis-Bacon wage rates and certified payroll set-up in ERP. Job site badging and safety requirements. Establish contract billing procedures and obtain paperwork requirements prior to project start. Track, facilitate and proactively manage monthly accounting of all active construction projects: Maintain weekly man-hour spreadsheets. Receive and review subcontractor pay applications, outstanding vendor commitments and invoices. Present for approval and process for payment in ERP system. Identify and manage contract billings according to contractual payment terms projecting us in the best financial position each month. Draft Owner/GC billings and assist EPMs with finalization. Liaise with external partners-vendors, suppliers, subcontractors-regarding submission of payables, cut-off dates, projections, W-9s, insurance and other documentation requirements. Develop and assist with certified payroll processing internally and externally as required so as not to hold up receipt of project funds. Create and maintain electronic recordkeeping of all construction projects including ERP project set-up and maintenance. Compile, process, and reconcile project close-out documentation. Drive the monthly Percent Complete/Work-In-Process discussion: Firm follow-up with external partners to establish legitimate figures and calculations. Extract, merge, and compile data from ERP and various software programs into multiple spreadsheets. Establish project review meetings with EPMs in preparation for management discussion. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE) Familiarity with AIA G702/G703. Two to four years of relevant post education experience with prior project accounting. Advanced Microsoft skills particularly Outlook, Excel - pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas.
