The Transformational Computing business within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is a highly motivated, talented, and growing organization focused on advancing the science and engineering of superconducting electronic systems into new capabilities and products. Transformational Computing is developing the technologies to transform computing beyond Moore's Law by advancing development of computer architectures, processing and memory subsystems, and large scale high performance computing systems. The Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) group is seeking Hardware Systems Integration Engineers to develop and maintain product development systems. Reporting to the Integration and Test Lead, and as a member of a cross-functional integration team, the Integration Engineer will collaborate with research and product development teams in providing state of the art, common, and reliable test platforms that enable new capabilities. Due to the unique environments required for superconductivity, these systems require a combination of commercial and custom hardware, low temperature or ultra-low temperature systems, and digital or microwave engineering. This is a hands-on position with an opportunity to gain experience in a cross-functional area of science and engineering. The Hardware Systems Integration Engineer will: Design, develop, deploy, and maintain systems which support the research and development of superconducting electronics Install and configure commercial and custom test equipment to populate the system including the wire out of cabling and racks, installation of custom mechanical assemblies, install and configure cryogenic components. Create designs, drawings, documentation, and software to support integration activities. Own the operation, configuration, and maintenance of one or more development systems. Coordinate usage of their systems with product development teams and researchers to meet their goals. Debug hardware, software, cabling, mechanical, electrical, and cryogenic problems on systems in order to ensure reliable, high quality performance and results. As members of the SEIT organization, they will implement and spread the adoption of standard processes, configuration management, and good engineering practices Implement state of the art practices and technologies from related academic fields and industry Collaborate with external vendors and internal engineering groups on the development of commercial and custom hardware Apply systems thinking and sound systems engineering practices in aR&D organization This position may be filled at the Principal or Sr. Principal Level, and will serve on-site in Linthicum, MD at our Advanced Technologies Laboratory. Basic Qualifications for Principal Hardware Systems Integration Engineer: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 5 years of related experience, or 3 years with a Master's Degree, or 0 years with a PhD. Experience on integration and test of hardware and software systems. Development of systems documentation, processes, and test plans. Elicitation of requirements from stakeholders and customers into executable specifications. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain US security clearance. Preferred Qualifications for Principal Hardware Systems Integration Engineer: Knowledge or experience in microwave, high speed digital, or cryogenic test. Software development experience with Matlab and Python. Experience in one or more areas: engineering of test systems, FPGA/ASIC design, embedded design, network/data center deployment and design, test automation, test operations, system integration, and formal system verification & validation. Active TS/SCI security clearance. Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Hardware Systems Integration Engineer: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 9 years of related experience, or 7 years with a Master's Degree, or 4 years with a PhD. Experience on integration and test of hardware and software systems. Development of systems documentation, processes, and test plans. Elicitation of requirements from stakeholders and customers into executable specifications. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain US security clearance. Preferred Qualifications for Sr. Principal Hardware Systems Integration Engineer: Knowledge or experience in microwave, high speed digital, or cryogenic test. Software development experience with Matlab and Python. Experience in one or more areas: engineering of test systems, FPGA/ASIC design, embedded design, network/data center deployment and design, test automation, test operations, system integration, and formal system verification & validation. Active TS/SCI security clearance. Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
