Staff Geotechnical Engineer / Geologist Intertek PSI, is searching for an Staff Geotechnical Engineer or Staff Geologist to join our Building & Constructionteam in our Fairfax, VA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry!The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team offers the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site.The Geotechnical Staff Engineer is responsible for conducting Geotechnical engineering on local projects. Entry level for Technical/Professional work. Works under close supervision of an experienced professional to perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced professional. The job schedule may include some nights and weekends as needed.What you'll do: Direct and execute Geotechnical project assignments including engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory services. Provide project level development of proposals and reports and ensure that client commitments are met. Field and Laboratory Sampling and Testing. Oversight and Testing on Geotechnical project during Design and Construction. What it takes to be successful in this role: BS Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological Engineering, or Geology required. 0-2 years' experience in the field of geotechnical engineering is preferred. Experience in Geotechnical report preparation and development of appropriate Geotechnical recommendations preferred. EIT or GIT is preferred. Capable of conducting and supervising field exploration activities. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds occasionally. Additional requirements may be needed for specific sites/locations. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound. Ability to kneel and squat occasionally. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold). Ability to climb occasionally.
