Financial Aid AdvisorAmerican Public University SystemThis role's work location is flexible with a blend of remote work and in-office work from the core office location in Charles Town, WV. The Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for providing financial aid support and counseling services to students attending American Public University System (APUS). This position communicates updates to students utilizing Federal Student Aid to support their educational goals.Responsibilities:Advises and educates students on various forms of Federal Student AidPrimarily answers student inbound calls, also replies to emails and makes outbound contactsSeeks out opportunities to enhance the student experience and promote high-quality serviceIndependently performs research to assist students and parents through the financial aid cycleRemains flexible to daily workflow and task changes as a result of staffing needs, increased volume, or service level agreementsCollaborates with other university departments, as neededProactively communicates feedback and trends to managementEnsures daily tasks and contacts are met within established SLAsAdheres to laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and compliance requirementsMeets department quality and productivity metricsPerforms other duties as assignedEssential Skills/Requirements:Strong verbal and written communications skillsEffective interpersonal communication and listening skillsAptitude to think critically and solve problemsAbility to utilize multiple systems in transition between tasksProficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, and PowerPointSolutions and detail orientedBachelor's degree requiredExperience in customer service, call center, or office environment preferredWork Hours:Office Hours - The following shifts are available and offered based on business need:Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 6:30 pmMonday - Friday 12:30 pm - 9:00 pmSaturday - Wednesday 9:30 am - 6:00 pmPotential to work holidays, if needed.Compensation and Benefits:American Public University System seeks to offer a competitive salary and benefit package.Per the US Department of Education Program Integrity Rules, postsecondary institutions that participate in the student financial assistance programs pursuant to Title IV of the Higher Education Act (HEA) are barred from providing incentive payments to any person or entity engaged in student recruiting and/or admissions activities.For additional information on our benefits please click the following link:https://www.apus.edu/about/careers/staff.About Us:American Public University System (APUS) is an Online University based in Charles Town, WV.
