Description Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist with organization chops to join the efforts of a growing organization.We are seeking a Payroll Specialist with great interpersonal skills and a background in accounting to join our team. A contract / temporary position, this Payroll Specialist role would be located in the Gaithersburg, MD region. The role will be set for a hybrid schedule (mix of in-office work days and remote work days). Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Process bi-weekly payroll for 1,500 employees* Full understanding of federal and state tax calculations* Prepare and submit manual payroll checks and direct deposits* Voiding and reversing issued checks* Collect banking information for direct deposit setup* Maintain and document all payroll records* Process Withholding Orders, Garnishments, Tax Levies in accordance with Federal and State laws for employees* Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll deductions, issues, or concerns Requirements Required Skills:* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present confidently and effectively* Proficiency in Data Entry Skills* Advanced user of Microsoft Office particularly in Excel* MUST have experience processing in-house payroll* Knowledge of Lawson software is a PLUS* Minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll processing* Expert at attention to detail with strong analytical and organization skills* A proven ability to be decisive, resolve issues, and deliver on commitments and deadlines* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining strict confidentially as appropriate* Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in an environment of multiple responsibilities* Able to independently problem-solve and make decisionsRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
