A Kforce client is seeking to hire a Staff Accountant in Springfield, Virginia (VA).Responsibilities include: * Reviews invoices and check requests for approval, proper support documentation, and account classification * Staff Accountant enters invoices, credit memos, account re-classes, and manual checks into the Accounts Payables module of accounting software system * Proofs voucher information entered the accounting software system and make corrections as needed * Ensures payments are in accordance with approved contracts and purchase orders * Staff Accountant enters wire transfer information in the online banking system * Reviews various AP Reports for accuracy prior to issuing checks * Issues checks and prepare them for signature and distribution * Staff Accountant researches, resolves invoice, and payment issues as requested by Supervisor * Interacts proactively with internal departments and external vendors to resolve questions/issues * Audits employee expense reports for compliance and appropriate documentation and process for reimbursement * Staff Accountant reconciles statements and research outstanding balances with vendors * Maintains the invoice log * Handles all incoming mail, including logging, and routing of invoices for approval * Staff Accountant handles the weekly disbursement of checks * Associate's degree; An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable * 2 years of experience preferably in Accounts Payable * Working knowledge of accounting software such as Deltek Costpoint * Proficiency with Microsoft Office * Demonstrated time and organizational management skills * Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines * Ability to interact with staff at all levels * Ability to diagnose and remedy problems quickly * Detail and quality-oriented with strong initiative/drive * Ability to function as part of a team Kforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
