Westat is seeking a Senior Economist/Study Director to join the Healthcare Delivery Research and Evaluation group (HDRE). It's an exciting opportunity to bring your methodological and healthcare policy and economics expertise to play a strategic role in continuing to expand our portfolio of healthcare policy and research. We are seeking a versatile economist with a passion for mentorship and collaboration to lead and contribute to research studies, contracts, and proposals as part of a multidisciplinary team of data analysts and social scientists.

Job Responsibilities:
• Lead tasks for quantitative projects and studies for a variety of governmental agencies; lead analyses designed to answer research questions about health care policy topics.
• Provide subject matter and methodological expertise regarding research design and implementation, data analyses, and communicating findings to clients.
• Contribute to business development efforts to expand HDRE's footprint with government agencies, including contributing to and leading sections of proposals and grant applications.
• Synthesize analytic results and communicate them via reports, white papers, memos, presentations, and client interactions.
• Conduct health policy research and background research to understand the policy context relevant to conducting analyses.
• Contribute to growing the HDRE research team through the development of junior staff and supporting a diverse culture.

Basic Qualifications:
• Master's degree in economics, social sciences, health care services research or related quantitative degree and 7 years of experience post-Master's degree; or a PhD in economics, social sciences, health care services research or another related quantitative degree and 4+ years of relevant experience post-PhD. Experience should include leading or managing studies or large key tasks on projects for federal or state clients.
• Expertise in successfully leading and managing complex quantitative research tasks 
•Expertise in several of the following areas: quality measure development and implementation; EHR data analysis; evaluation design and methods; CMS operations. 
•Experience leading and managing sections of proposals for federal and state clients; experience with CMS strongly preferred.
•Expertise in relevant statistical software (SAS, Stata, SQL, R etc.)
