Summary

NJVC is currently looking for a Unix/Linux Systems Engineer - Sr. that will provide support to federal IT RedHat infrastructure which resides primarily in vSphere, AWS, and Azure.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the LINUX server infrastructure.
  • Provide support to the LINUX Tower team lead, overseeing activities administering, designing, and implementing RedHat Linux server based solutions.
  • Responsible for incident management as it relates to the LINUX server infrastructure.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex system issues.
  • Work primarily in a virtualized environment.
  • Work alongside other team members to complete operational tasks as directed by federal leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 8+ years of experience administrating and managing servers and systems, specializing in UNIX/LINUX operating systems
  • Must possess a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification or equivalent
  • Must have strong skills in writing Ansible playbooks to automate routine LINUX tasks
  • Must have strong skills with RedHat LINUX administration
  • Must have a good understanding of DISA STIG's and creating golden images
  • Basic understanding of LDAP / Kerberos based authentication concepts
  • Background check required with the ability to obtain a public trust

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have strong skills in writing Ansible playbooks to automate routine LINUX tasks
  • Must have strong skills with RedHat LINUX administration
  • Must have a good understanding of DISA STIG's and creating golden images.
  • Basic understanding of LDAP/Kerberos based authentication concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
  • Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
