Job Description

This role would support Giant Food's Meal Solution growth driver, responsible for the development of various meal solution programs from concept to execution. The Manager would collaborate with internal and external partners to innovate creative concepts and ideas that encompass full meal solutions programs such as prepared food, ready-to-eat, take-home ingredients, made-to-order, and online meal ordering. The scope of program development is inclusive of, but not limited to, recipes, product assortment, displays, marketing, supply chain, execution, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with Category Management in support of new program execution/roadmap
  • Support assortment decisions both in-store and online to meet customer centric demand, commercial needs, local opportunities, and competitive positioning expectations
  • Apply knowledge of Giant Food, our suppliers, and the industry's business financial drivers, practices, concepts, customer and competitive trends, and economic forecasts to develop ideas/solutions which produce desired sustainable results
  • Provide internal and external communications with functional partners to include formal presentations, business and regulatory applications and required documentation​
  • Gain alignment and trust between internal and external parties while achieving positive business results
  • Identify, develop, and/or implement new product initiatives across all retail formats (online & in-store) to drive desired business results​
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Business Solutions, including supporting Category tactics and plans that deliver our current strategy and future roadmap
  • Apply understanding of food safety, product sustainability & specifications, category, supplier & industry dynamics & marketplace trends to deliver our desired business results
  • Provide innovation by staying up to date with emerging trends through industry publications and market analysis
  • Regularly monitor commodity projections and forecasts
  • Negotiate with vendors to provide goods and services that best meet business needs

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in grocery retail with a strong knowledge of food trends
  • Making data driven decisions to drive innovation
  • Strong business acumen
  • Drives for results

  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Business Development experience
  • Product development management
  • Strong financial acumen to manage accountability in financials and performance
  • Vendor negotiations and relationship building experience
