Our client is looking for new hires for the CAD team in Sterling, VA! We play a supporting role for our Right of Way Department by creating overall easement maps and homeowner plats from the legal documents and title work provided to us. We also deliver basemaps to our designers which they use to create their overhead and underground designs for Dominion Energy. The most challenging part of this job will be reading through title documentation such as deeds, easements, and plats and gleaning relevant information from them that you will then draw in AutoCAD. The basemap you use in AutoCAD will be imported from QGIS, so while a knowledge of GIS would be helpful, the majority of the work will be taking information from title documentation in drawing it in AutoCAD.A knowledge of right of way and electrical distribution can be acquired on the job. New hires need to be self-starters willing to learn and be able to assist in building on top of a framework we have already developed. Our processes are constantly evolving and there is no official manual or one right way to do this job. For these reasons, creativity and a desire to trail blaze are also desirable traits.
