Please make sure work history and education are added correctly.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Research Specialist - Animal Health Technician for our Insourcing Solutions site in Bethesda, MD. The following are responsibilities related to the Research Specialist - Animal Health Technician: A cents € cents Care for and maintains laboratory animals in accordance with Animal Welfare Act and the "Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, as well as, NIH policies and guidelines and other pertinent regulations and policies. A cents € cents Perform euthanasia, routine gross necropsy, and parasitology examinations of animals received from both internal and external customers.A cents € cents Collect and prepare tissue for further evolution in the PCR, bacteriology, and parasitology labs. A cents € cents Prepare blood samples for shipment to be tested by off-site laboratory.A cents € cents Examine varies parasitology samples submitted by customersA cents € cents Input results and create reports in departmental into client's database system.A cents € cents Perform computer-based accessioning of animal and sample submissions.A cents € cents Reconcile customer paperwork with submission documentation to ensure accuracy.A cents € cents Gather and prepare laboratory materials (plates, slides, blood tubes, etc.).A cents € cents Assist with training departmental technicians.A cents € cents May provide results and/or technical assistance to external customers via verbal and/or written communications.A cents € cents May be responsible for the coordination of biological test data, GLP documentation, and departmental recordkeeping. Ensures accurate recording of data.A cents € cents Share responsibility for maintaining appropriate inventory levels of departmental supplies, housekeeping and adherence to established safety procedures.A cents € cents Actively interacts with customers as required to solve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints and to provide technical assistance. A cents € cents Prepare and submit written reports, charts, logs and inventories as requested.A cents € cents Maintain and operate equipment and use supplies according to SOPs and safety guidelines; perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures. Comply with safety policies and procedures and MSDS guidelines, including those related to biohazards and radioactive substances.A cents € cents Maintain required attendance level and adherence to work schedule in accordance with required staffing levels in order to ensure that assigned duties are completed. A cents € cents Provides support to necropsy, bacteriology and molecular genetics labs as needed. Job QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree (BA/B.Sc.) or equivalent in Biological Sciences or related discipline required. Experience:Minimum of one year related technical experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure: HT/HTL certification helpful. AALAS certification at the LAT level or must achieve LAT within one year of hire or promotion.IMPORTANT: A resume is required to be considered for this position.
