Honors College Admissions CounselorThe George Mason University Office of Admissions is conducting a search for a self-motivated, results-oriented individual for an Honors College Admissions Counselor. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Actively recruit and counsel prospective students, including freshmen and transfer students, to Mason and its Honors College by planning and executing recruitment activities in assigned locations;Review applicant files and make appropriate admission decisions;Participate in day-to-day operational activities, including "counselor of the day" and "informational officer of the day" duties;Assist in coordinating Honors College admissions events;Assist in managing the student-volunteer Honors College Recruitment Team;Coordinate campus visit experiences;Assist in staffing events;Use data to make informed decisions and to report on outcomes;Support internal and external admissions-focused Honors College access partnerships;Assist in the writing and coordination of print, email, web-based, and social media communications and marketing for prospective students and other primary audiences;Collaborate with other team members across the university and within the Admissions Office;Provide excellent customer service to a diverse population; andOvernight and possible out of state travel is required.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Experience working with diverse populations;Demonstrated customer service experience;Demonstrated written and oral communication skills;Demonstrated analytical skills;Ability and willingness to travel extensively;Availability for evening and weekend work;Detail-oriented;Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusivity;Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information and situations;Ability to prioritize tasks in a hectic, deadline-driven environment often working on multiple tasks concurrently;Ability to engage in public speaking in both large and small group situations;Ability to make independent decisions;Computer literacy, ability and willingness to learn new software applications;Demonstrated ability to work positively as a team member; andMust currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual;Experience in higher education with knowledge of the admissions process;Experience in an Honors College setting;Previous experience with data analysis;Previous experience with Ellucian Banner software;Previous experience with Salesforce CRM;Demonstrated experience in creating and editing digital marketing materials; andPrior admissions or related experience.
