Principal Associate, Process Manager - Commercial

The Sustainably Well Managed team is seeking a dynamic Principal Associate who will play a pivotal role within Commercial Client Support. This ~300 person organization plays a critical role in the operational execution and management of Commercial products and services and provides client support throughout the client lifecycle. Within Commercial Client Support, the Sustainably Well Managed team is looking for a new team member to partner in the creation and delivery of well executed standards and controls that improves our risk posture and ensures processes are sustainable, resilient and well managed.

We are seeking a dedicated, disciplined, process professional who excels in a team environment. This person will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and can adapt to change quickly. The ability to influence up is key to success in this position. This new member will also have the ability to learn quickly and demonstrate teamwork, within and outside of the immediate team, through their interactions and across a wide range of levels.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure both program and operational processes are sustainably well managed through iterative process improvements, issue resolution, documentation and risk mitigation
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Well Managed processes and practices when representing the team in projects and other meetings
  • Develop, maintain and validate process documentation and controls related to all levels of the process hierarchy
  • Own, lead and partner on process improvement initiatives through collaboration and in alignment with desired customer outcomes
  • Identify process gaps and make improvement recommendations
  • Document processes and projects (creating reports, presentations, business cases, and diagrams)
  • Manage projects as assigned with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
  • Demonstrate curiosity and aptitude to learn about the current regulatory environment and internal policies within Commercial Bank and the Enterprise
  • Handle multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines
  • Meet with key stakeholders and business partners to share results, drive changes and gather requirements

Work at Home Technology Requirements:
  • A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
  • A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use cellular data (hot spot)
    • Cable or fiber connections are preferred
    • Internet service download speeds must be at least 5 mbps, with 10+ mbps preferred - check your download speed using a speed test. A sample one can be found here . To test your home internet from your personal computer at home, type www.speedtest.net into the web browser of your personal computer.
    • Sustained ability to maintain latency less than 250 ms in voice calls is required
  • Hard wired connectivity is preferred, any use of wireless connectivity must be Private (non-public) and password protected through WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. If you have any questions about your encryption, please consult with your internet provider
    • A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network
  • Capital One reserves the right to request proof of internet provider, speed and service package from the associate
  • Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. Capital One reserves the right to modify internet service requirements with sixty (60) days notice.


Candidates must live within 100 miles driving distance of one of the hub locations based in Melville, NY, McLean, VA, Richmond, VA or Plano, TX.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 2 years of Banking or Finance experience
  • At least 2 years of Operations experience
  • At least 2 years of Process Management experience OR at least 2 years of Project Management experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • Google Suite experience
  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project Management certification
  • 1+ year of experience in Compliance or Risk Management
  • 3+ years of experience in Process Management
