The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Space and Launch Division, Satellite Operations and Ground Systems (SOGS) organization is seeking a Senior Grounds Systems Engineer (Level 6) to join our team in Leeburg, VA, Denver, CO, Mesa, AZ or Seal Beach, CA. Our Space and Launch Team builds the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on crafting the future development of innovative technology in an agile environment with multiple long term projects needing support. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments. Position Overview: The Senior Grounds Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to provide overall direction for major sections of our software development staff and programs. This position will have a focus on can establishing and maintaining customer relationships as well as partnerships with stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. This role will require advanced skills in software systems engineering with domain experience in satellite ground systems and satellite operations. The position is also encouraged to support ground division business unit efforts outside the program including but not limited to new business strategy, market assessments, IRD investment planning, COTS products, re-use of other Boeing ground products, and proposal activities. As a Senior Ground Systems Engineer, will have the opportunity to support the entire Ground Systems and Operations (GS&O) division of over 1,000 engineers and work to develop common tools and build a library for ground segment products. Position Responsibilities Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Work Authorization This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship with a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed by the federal government within the last 5 years or in a Continuous Evaluation/Continuous Vetting program for the T5/SSBI. (A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. 15 years or more of experience in software systems engineering. 15 years or more of experience with all aspects of requirements management including requirements definition, traceability, testing, qualification and customer acceptance. 15 years or more of experience working with customers and users/operators to define functional and performance requirements, software interfaces, use cases and user stories. 10 years or more of experience working with USG customers in the processes to achieve formal product qualification and acceptance. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience with satellite ground systems and the satellite operations problem space. Experience with Model Based Engineering through-out the development lifecycle. Experience collaborating with developers using agile development tools and practices. Experience using Atlassian Jira and Confluence. Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
