Men's and Women's Basketball Public Address AnnouncerThe George Mason University, Intercollegiate Athletic Department, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, is seeking qualified applicants for the Men's and Women's Basketball Public Address Announcer part-time position. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Public Address Announcer is responsible for game day announcing for George Mason University intercollegiate basketball games.Responsibilities:Read pre-game announcements, introduction of the National Anthem and player introductions;Read in-game announcements of game events, and scripted announcements during stoppages of play;Read halftime announcements including game statistics and promotional events;Read post-game announcements as directed; andAs directed by the designated game manager, provides announcements to crowd during the game to ensure a healthy, competitive atmosphere exists for all home athletic contests.Required Qualifications:Prior experience as a public address announcer and/or on-air talent on television or radio;Previous sports announcing experience (basketball preferred);Advanced knowledge of NCAA Division I Men's and/or Women's Basketball;Demonstrated attention to detail;Expressive but clear and controlled vocal skills;Varied vocal delivery based on game situation; andFlexibility to work: nights, weekends, holidays, post season games and other non-game day events.
