Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, LECThe Law & Economics Center (LEC) is searching for an Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of the LEC.The mission of the Law & Economics Center is to serve as a nexus for research and education focused on economic analysis of the legal and public policy issues confronting policymakers. Since its inception in 1974, the LEC has recognized the importance of timely, relevant research on public policy matters, as well as the need to communicate research findings to those who shape policy decisions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated executive assistant experience in an academic, legal, or corporate environment. The Executive Assistant will deal with donor relations to include communication with current and prospective donors as well as maintenance of a donor database. The ideal candidate will possess experience in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support-related tasks to include planning and organizing meetings, communicating with donors and high-level constituents of the LEC (including federal and state judges, attorneys general, and others), managing the Executive Director's calendar, proofing and editing professional correspondence and academic documents, managing databases, and using all components of Microsoft Office Suite.General Qualifications:The ideal candidate will be well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, capable of working with tight deadlines, able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands effectively, be committed to maintaining confidentiality, and be adept at exercising good judgment and discretion in handling the Executive Director's tasks. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work independently and take initiative to problem-solve; a critical thinker.The ideal candidate is expected to be courteous, respectful, and professional in approach to others, displaying honesty, trust, sophistication, and integrity when dealing with internal and external LEC constituents. The ideal candidate is able to be a productive LEC team member, sharing information when necessary and appropriate, and generally contributing to a workplace culture that supports an engaged workforce. The ideal candidate will be committed to the mission and vision of the Law & Economics Center and also display an understanding of the goals and objectives of the Law & Economics Center.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience; and, demonstrated previous experience as an executive assistant to an executive-level-employee;Considerable experience (generally 3+ years) planning and organizing meetings, and managing a calendar for an executive-level employee;Prior experience (generally 2+ years) in the use of information systems and database management;Demonstrated skill in effective verbal and written communication;Ability to proofread and edit professional correspondence and academic documents;Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other video conferencing technologies;Ability to lift 15 - 20 lbs;Capable of cultivating the trust of the Executive Director and the LEC Leadership Team; andAbility to manage relationships with staff of the LEC, Scalia Law School, and George Mason University as well as external service providers to ensure productive working relationships with the Executive Director.Preferred Qualifications:4+ years of executive assistant experience in an academic, legal, and/or corporate office; and3+ years of experience in dealing with donor relations to include communication with current and prospective donors as well as maintenance of a donor database.
