Job Description

Overall management of PDC (Perishable Distribution Center) warehouse shipping functions, supervisors, team members, and production standards. Ensure efficiency, timeliness, accuracy, and operational excellence in the execution of daily tasks. Lead, develop and manage a team of shift supervisors. Proactively work to mitigate, prevent, and resolve operational and people issues within a labor union environment.Role model and promote culture of diversity, teamwork, and care.Provide support as the manager on duty for overall management of shipping operations and assume the role in the absence of the Shipping Operations Manager. Collaborate with all PDC teams, Store Operations, Transportation, and Inventory Management to ensure the timely, accurate, and safe movement of product. Role model and influence a mindset and culture of service and quality culture in serving stores and customers.Ensure maximum operational efficiencies and execution of warehouse receiving or shipping operations.Essential Skills:
  • Responsible for the overall management, execution, accuracy, and timeliness of the following:
    • All shipping operations: Selection and fulfillment of store orders; replenishment; cross-docking; and trailer loading.
    • Loading outbound trailers in correct store preferred sequence.
    • Evaluate, maintain, and ensure continuous improvement of shipping operations.
    • Managing Cross-dock and outbound loading to minimize shrink at stores.
    • Shift schedules for clerical and selectors, stockers, loaders, and hourly outbound staff to support business needs and daily workload volumes.
    • Proper equipment assignments. Resolve equipment issues throughout night on equipment assigned.
    • Ensure completion of store operations service and emergency requests
  • Create and oversee operational audits to promote accuracy and quality while minimizing shrink.
  • Develop, lead, and implement operational and productivity enhancements to improve cost, financial impact, efficiencies, competitiveness, and service delivery.
  • Monitor and resolve WMS and Vo-Collect, problems as well as warehouse issues in a timely and accurate manner
  • Monitor and maintain all safety and sanitation standards through proper execution of policies, practices, and procedures. Ensure OSHA standards are met and maintained. Report and correct any deficiencies.
  • Ensure daily production standards and metrics are adhered to or improved upon in all areas of shipping and receiving.
  • Contribute to pre-shift meetings to communicate key business information and daily workload.
  • Assist with supervising, coaching, and developing shift supervisors.
  • Support the training, development, and engagement of all new and existing team members.
  • Support training of shift associates and conduct periodic evaluations, as needed.
  • Follow up on disciplinary actions and ensure they are issues within contractual guidelines.
  • Interact and collaborate with union partners to build and maintain a effective working relationship.
  • Promote a positive pro associate culture that contributes to the company values of courage, care, humor, and integrity.
  • Ensure proper daily use of WMS system for monitoring and maintaining production, and correcting/adjusting time discrepancies. Monitor WMS for performance and accuracy. Report and make recommended changes as identified.
  • Support all special projects.
  • Serve as the facility's primary point of contact in the absence of senior leadership.
  • Support cross-functional partnerships across all areas of the PDC and Transportation Center.


Essential Skills

Requirements:
  • Bachelor\u0027s Degree preferred with 5-7 years of experience in warehouse operations, transportation or logistics.
  • Preferred background in warehousing/distribution with an understanding of Warehouse Management Systems, Inventory control, Shipping, Receiving, Selection, and Productivity Management Systems.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills that generate respect and understanding, interpersonal skills, coaching and conflict management.
  • Problem solving skills required. Must feel comfortable in a fast pace, high pressured work environment with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
