Responsibilities: NASA Federal Credit Union is in search of an Accounting Manager to supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Accounting Department (Accounts Payable and General Ledger Reconciliations). This position will perform a variety of complex, semi-complex, and routine accounting duties. It will assist with coordinating annual internal and external audits, risk reviews and examination. The Accounting Manager will also assist the Vice President and Assistant Vice President of Finance with departmental operations such as scheduling, hiring, performance evaluations, and discipline of staff; as well as provide leadership and guidance to staff members. This position is a Remote-Hybrid role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include the following with other duties may be assigned) Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act. Provides day-to-day coordination and support to Accounting Team. Communicates performance expectations and monitors results. Identifies training needs and conducts or coordinates training as needed. Develops and maintains documentation, policy, and procedures of all Accounting items for the team. Ensures Business Continuity Plan is current, tested and documented. Maintains User Privileges and General Ledger Account Setups for all employees within the Core system, as well as additional administrator roles for accounting staff in various other systems. Ensures the proper GL coding of vendor invoices. Verifies invoices are proper and accurate and ensures any discrepancies are resolved timely. Manages accounting activity for FinTechs, Loan Participations and 3rd Party Lending Channels. Assists with month-end close through various Prepaid Expense and Accrual Reportings, Journal Entry postings and documented Variance Reviews. Identify and resolve aging items within the general ledger reconciliations. Set the goals and scope for automation strategies and system tools to improve the Financial Accounting and reporting of the Credit Unions results in these areas. Support the implementation of new credit union products as it relates to the General Ledger setup and reconciliation. Gathers and prepares documents for regular internal and external audits. Performs as a team member or team lead on department, cross-department, and corporate projects. Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance required. Strong Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Three to five years of relevant experience in a managerial accounting position. Ablility to work a Remote-Hybrid schedule.
