Data Control AccountantThe George Mason University, General Accounting Department, invites applications for a Data Control Accountant. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Data Control Accountant assures the complete and accurate processing of all transactions fed or entered into the university's Banner accounting system, and assures accurate and complete posting of all state-related transactions posted to the state's Cardinal accounting system.Responsibilities:Run Cardinal daily and payroll job parameters, review accuracy and completeness of all transactions transmitted to Cardinal; monitor and reprocesses transactions that failed; check Cardinal daily for GL errors and makes necessary corrections;Review, process, and record daily commonwealth EDI deposits;Perform data entry to Cardinal for Online journals and deposits;Perform monthly Cardinal/Banner Reconciliation; andReview journal vouchers submitted to Accounting for accuracy; review daily control emails to assure proper processing has occurred.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education;Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles;Ability to analyze and organize large quantities of data;Attention to detail;Basic Excel proficiency (advanced proficiency preferred);Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills; andAbility to interact with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.Preferred Qualifications:Considerable (generally 3+ years) experience as an accountant in a large organization with a complex accounting system preferred.About the University:George Mason University, the largest public research university in Virginia, is an innovative, entrepreneurial institution with national distinction in both academics and research.
