This position is responsible for day-to-day operation of multiple Fairfax County WIC Clinics. Plans and manages daily clinic activities such as scheduling and staffing. Analyzes monthly caseload reports to determine staffing, equipment, and clinic supplies. Monitors compliance of operational policies and show rates. Provides nutrition services to clients who are eligible for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. Based on client needs, makes referrals to other service providers. Provides education for clients, staff, and community groups. Facilitates breastfeeding promotion. Conducts community outreach activities and acts as the nutrition expert in responding to inquiries from the public or other professionals.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field; plus one year of experience as a nutritionist.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • Registration as a Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Driver's license
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR (Required within 60 days)
  • AED (Required within 60 days)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry, a driving records check, a sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. Tuberculosis Test.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred candidate will have completed graduate level course work in public health/nutrition. At least two years of supervisory experience, including staff training/management and monitoring program data, reports, and compliance. Proficiency in recordkeeping and in use of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel). Position requires the candidates to be proactive, exercise good judgment, use critical thinking skills, be organized and have excellent customer service skills. Clear oral and written communication skills. Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight as required for the position. Have the ability to read and write, and operate keyboard driven equipment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
