Human Resources is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AARP enterprise-wide human resource strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and related systems. This includes employee compensation and benefits, organization design and integration, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.

Delivers first line customer service support to the entire organization on various HR subject matter. Responds to employee inquiries and leadership requests, identifies issues and triages to the appropriate team, and supports/participated in various cross functional projects within HR. Participates in the maintenance of human resources technology systems associated with the collection, retrieval, accessibility, and usage of employee information for HR department planning and activities. Follows established procedures for updating, validating, and correcting employee records or other related HR data. Inputs employee data and verifies entries against forms or records. Creates standard and ad hoc queries or reports. Provides data summaries or analysis for use in employee planning projects or decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve and/or respond to Tier 1 (first level) issues related to HR policy, new hires, employee data changes, benefits, compensation and operations and escalate to the appropriate team as needed.
  • Enter into and maintain accuracy of data in HRIS systems and HR related vendor systems including data for new hires, existing employees and temps/contractors.
  • Aid in answering routine questions for standard annual HR activities - using documented procedures (i.e., performance management, merit, open enrollment).
  • Assist the department to fully utilize existing systems to ultimately streamline internal processes and to help enhance employee experience.
  • Maintain HRIS system and deliverables including regular and ad hoc report generation, system administration, troubleshooting, data entry, mass updates, etc.
  • Work closely and act as a liaison on HR operations matters with outside departments, such as Payroll, Finance, IT and vendors.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of HR core functions and practices preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality of information
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Home office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate home environment noise

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
