Job Description OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE: Takeda is advancing an exciting pipeline and wants to ensure that we have the infrastructure and talent in place to support it. Our overall goal is to ensure that we get our therapeutics to patients quickly by having the right operational model and integrated clinical data pipeline to support delivery. The remote Systems Engineer will provide engineering leadership in designing and building new Takeda products and systems. The Systems Engineer will work directly with product owners within the Systems and Architecture workstream, a component of the overarching R&D trial data program to design and prioritize system enhancements. This data program will include an integrated data flow with end-to end control of data, internalization of numerous systems and processes, broad enablement of automation and near-time data access, efficient data review and query, and enablement of disruptive technologies for next-generation trial designs and insight derivation As a System Engineer, you will: Provide engineering leadership in designing and building new Takeda products Work directly with product owners to design and prioritize system enhancements Be responsible for all engineering activities and components of system development including platforms, tools, and product APIs. Follow and help extend the engineering and platform strategy to be used to develop product software. As part of systems teams, perform agile development with fungible resources and, where appropriate, be persistent project team member. Identify modern technologies for use in product, platform, and tool development Ensure systems are secure, using modern deployment techniques and functional APIs. Track end-of-life components and transitions as well as future state progress against a product portfolio. Manage external engineering teams to deliver new products/systems and modernize existing systems architectures ACCOUNTABILITIES: Support product teams as needed Work with the R&D's Systems and Architecture workstream and other technical teams to identify and use optimal technologies for projects and products Determine technical product development approaches, using different technologies, patterns, and design methods along with modern scripted deployment techniques to rapidly deliver product development and enhancements. Understanding how to translate process, user experience, and operational feedback into technical designs, roadmaps, and implementation Design & deploy complex systems and products incrementally to deliver value quickly. Follow bi-model methodology (agile, waterfall, and others where appropriate) in building roadmaps and designing & deploying systems. Ensure up-to-date enterprise architecture records/repository, lifecycle management, and roadmap definition for applications/technologies Follow engineering best practice guidelines and standards pertaining to compliance and security adopted by the Engineering Organization Design and implement products and their components using modern architectures, microservice-based API's able to participate with other products/platforms, and pertinent data in the product ecosystem. Serve as a role model for respect and inclusion, creating a culture that fosters innovation Complexity: Work in a global ecosystem (internal and external) with a high degree of complexity Discern and understand broader, enterprise level perspective EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES, AND SKILLS: Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Scientific, Informatics, or related discipline 5+ years of experience in design, architecture, and engineering of products and/or systems. 1-2 years in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industries. Experience working in modern development using modern API's, Microservices and component-based systems Experience delivering architectural documentation and implementation against SAAS, IAAS or Development projects Experience with GxP, CFR 21 Part 11 and systems validation Familiarity with change control and SDLC associated with computer system validation processes Experience working on AWS, GCP or Azure Working knowledge of SQL and Relational Databases Experience with NoSQL datastores (MongoDB, Neo4J) Develop and maintain written documentation (ie IQ's, System Design Specifications, etc.) Experience with two of the following languages: Java, Scala or Python, JavaScript Understanding of Web Services as well as JSON formats Year or more of experience with Jira and Agile development Strong interpersonal and communications skills Preferred: Master's or higher degree in Computer Science, Scientific Informatics, or related discipline Experience working in R&D and / or Biotech Experience working with global teams Experience with a BI tools: EX: Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire, Power BI Experience with any of the following Frameworks: SpringBoot, Django, R Shiny, Flask, node.js Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks Location and Salary Information: In accordance with the CO Equal Pay Act, Colorado Applicants Are Not Permitted to Apply. Base Salary Range: $102,200 - $146,000 based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well.
