Job Summary: This position is responsible for the investigation, planning, and execution of injection molding and/ or extrusion related projects. Said projects may include process improvements, insourcing of existing components, product improvements, etc. Often considered the subject matter expert in their field, they must possess a thorough understanding of their engineering discipline. It is expected that the Senior Engineer I would stay current on emerging technology and trends in industry so as to enable implementation of "state of the art"A' systems. Job Details: 1. Responsible for the design, development, and qualification of efficient, robust Injection Molding and/ or Extrusion processes and equipment.2. Ensure all work and documentation is compliant with existing internal procedures and relevant external regulatory requirements. 3. Provide support in cost and capacity modeling as well as resource planning estimates for project assignments.4. Manage suppliers of molds and equipment to ensure established timelines, budgets and performance requirements are met.5. Manage small projects whose primary objectives are based in Injection Molding and/ or Extrusion.6. Identify areas of potential improvement in existing processes and build rationale to support their implementation.7. Present technical information to target audiences in a clear, concise and professional manner, in order to gain understanding and/ or consensus.8. Maintain positive relations with suppliers, contractors and all levels of associates. 9. Performs other job-related duties assigned. Position Requirements: A' . Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) o Ability to specify, procure, install and validate IM and/ or Extrusion equipment and processeso Ability to manage internal and external supplierso Understanding and application of statistical experimental design and analysis techniques, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma principals, problem solving and decision-making tools.o Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. o Thorough understanding and application of scientifically based injection molding and/ or extrusion process development.o Ability to create technical reports and documentation suitable for inclusion in submissions to notified bodieso Thorough understanding of engineering drawings and tolerancingo Use and understanding of computer aided drafting systems, Solidworks preferredo In depth understanding of mold design and tooling and/ or extrusion tooling design A' . Background Experiences o Typically requires a BS in Plastics Engineering or other relevant discipline o Minimum 10 years of increasing responsibility/experience in injection molding and/or extrusion engineering o Experience with manufacturing equipment design, procurement and validationo Experience in injection molding/ extrusion for medical devices or other highly regulated industry
