We have an immediate opening available for a talented Test Engineer 2/3 at our Elkton, Maryland location. The Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA. Job Summary: Under broad direction, develop system testing scope, plan and estimates in collaboration with QA. Evaluate and recommend changes and/or tools to improve processes. This position supports physical hardware testing, this is not a software testing position. Job Responsibilities: Provides technical support in the office and field as the mechanical test engineer. Review testing requirements, develop Test Plans and write Test Procedures. Executes tests, manages and prioritizes problems/failures. Reviews and evaluates test results and provides summary reports. Works with cross functional, multi-discipline test teams. Interfaces with technicians, customers, vendors and management teams to resolve problems. Works directly with energetic test arrangements in the field and provides onsite mechanical and electrical/instrumentation troubleshooting support. Participate in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. Basic Qualifications Test Engineer 2: Requires Bachelors of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 2 years of experience Experience working in a manufacturing environment Experience with laboratory or manufacturing test system design, hardware integration and support Proficient ability to use Microsoft Office applications Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and standards Must have good communication skills and be able to write and deliver presentations Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite Basic Qualifications Test Engineer 3: Requires Bachelors of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 5 years of experience Experience working in a manufacturing environment Experience with laboratory or manufacturing test system design, hardware integration and support Proficient ability to use Microsoft Office applications Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and standards Must have good communication skills and be able to write and deliver presentations Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite Preferred Qualifications: Environmental testing experience: thermal conditioning, shock and vibration testing Experience working with explosives and/or hazardous environments This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor. " Salary Range: $71,500 USD - $107,300 USD Salary Range 2: $88,000 USD - $132,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
