GEICO's corporate office in Chevy Chase, Maryland is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager for the GAAP/Investment team within the Controllers Department. The team is responsible for investment and GAAP reporting to Berkshire Hathaway as well as responsible for the preparation of the audited statements for GEICO's benefit plans and philanthropic entities.Job duties and responsibilities:Managing and training a team of professional accountantsOverseeing the monthly investment accounting processReviewing financial statements Reviewing reconciliations Reviewing accruals Managing the audited financial statement process for various entitiesInterpreting new accounting pronouncements Proposing process improvementsCandidate qualifications:At least five (5) years of accounting experience, preferably preparing and reviewing financial statements for a large corporation.Public accounting and experience researching accounting pronouncements are both a plus. Background in investment accounting is preferred but not requiredPrevious proven experience managing a teamCPA license REQUIREDStrong Microsoft Office skills (vlookup, pivot table, VBA, queries, etc.)Detail oriented and highly analyticalExcellent communication skillsPrevious experience with insurance accounting preferredFamiliarity with Peoplesoft or Workday Financials general ledger applications preferredStatementPro or Wings Annual Statement reporting software experience preferredBenefits: At GEICO, we make sure you have the support and resources to leverage and develop your skills, secure your financial future, and take care of your health and well-being.
