GEICO's Controller department is seeking a hard-working team member to join the Financial Reporting team as an Accountant. In the Financial Reporting department of GEICO you will be responsible for the preparation and reporting needs for one of GEICO's insurance and non-insurance companies. This includes creating and submitting journal entries, preparing daily/monthly/quarterly reports and reconciliations, and preparing the internal and external financial statements for your assigned company. In this role you will be required to perform trend analysis over various accounts and be able to identify unusual or significant fluctuations. In addition, you will be working closely with other members of the GEICO team in various departments.Your main responsibilities will include:Creating monthly journal entries and adjusting entriesPerforming daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts, bank statements, payroll accounts, etc.Creating supplier invoices for paymentAbility to analyze significant or unusual fluctuations and sort through large amounts of dataPreparing internal and external financial statements for the various property and casualty insurance companies within the GEICO familyRequired Skills:Bachelors or higher education degree in Accounting CPA license or actively pursuing CPA license required with at least two parts of the tests passed1+ years of financial reporting experience and month end close experienceProficient in Microsoft ExcelStrong communication skills1+ years of PeopleSoft General Ledger and/or Workday Financials experience preferredBenefits: At GEICO, we make sure you have the support and resources to leverage and develop your skills, secure your financial future, and take care of your health and well-being.
