Special Assets Manager - Melville, NY

Capital One Commercial Operations is looking for a Manager of the Special Assets Operations team. The primary functions include the management of a team of approximately 6 associates performing the administrative closing and booking of loan modifications, renewals, and restructurings for the Special Assets / criticized portfolio, as well as performing all daily activity and maintenance of its assets.

The role requires facing off with the line of business, as well as monitoring metrics, associate performance, and ensuring timely and accurate execution of service and maintenance activities on Bilateral and Syndicated Commercial loans. Additionally, this role involves critical thinking through complex research activities and analysis of specific calculations such as loan/fee accruals and other remediation activities, while effectively conveying such information to various Operations and Business stakeholders.

General Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate pre-closing requirements for loan renewals, modifications, and restructurings with internal and external clients, ensuring all relevant documentation is obtained for a timely closing.
  • Review and interpret legal documentation related to bilateral and syndicated loans, and ensure documentation accurately reflects the intentions of the credit approval and is operational feasible to support.
  • Ensure transactions are closed in compliance with the Bank's loan policy and any other requirements designated by the credit approval
  • Approve a high-volume of monetary and non-monetary loan service transactions, including loan disbursements, applications of payments, rate-setting, charge-offs, loan sales, etc.
  • Ensure that service levels are met in terms of timeliness, accuracy, quality, and customer service. Accurately drive resolution on simultaneous time sensitive tasks.
  • Understand and communicate complex transactions to various stakeholders and partners.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively through projects and day to day functions.
  • Proactively embrace change and engage productively with the team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide training and presentations across various Operations teams, regarding daily functions, issue remediation efforts, and other various topics.
  • People Management
  • Management of day-to-day operational activity for a team of approximately 6 associates. Allocate work and hold direct reports accountable for the accurate and timely completion of loan service requests.
  • Actively apply previous experience and industry knowledge to drive process improvements and support for customers and business lines
  • Monitor portfolio metrics, issue resolution, risk mitigation and overall process health. Manage process controls, drive root cause analysis and identify sustainable, repeatable solutions.
  • Empower, develop, coach, and recognize team to reach personal, professional, and team goals
  • Recruit and retain top talent fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and belonging

Work at Home Technology Requirements:

    • A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network

Candidates must live within 100 miles driving distance of one of the hub locations based in Melville, NY

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting commercial lending, banking, or financial operations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 3 years of People management experience
  • At least 1 year experience with ACBS, or other commercial loan platforms
