Risk Manager - Commercial Controls Team

Within the Commercial Risk Office, you'll be challenged to identify, assess, mitigate and monitor compliance and operational controls. As a member of the Commercial Controls Team, the Control Manager will be responsible for working with the line of business teams to uncover opportunities to strengthen the control environment to reduce risks for the business while building lasting partnerships.
Success in this position will rely heavily on working with cross-functional teams, identifying strategies to build and improve control processes, analyzing data, and building strong partnerships. The candidate should be well-versed in Commercial Banking Regulatory and Operational risk management, developing senior level communications and reports related to strategy and performance.

The candidate should be well-versed in Commercial Banking Regulatory and Operational risk management, developing senior level communications and reports related to strategy and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic & analytic orientation: a proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Able to effectively design, implement and monitor compliance and operational controls. Adept at analyzing trends and making effective business risk decisions.
- Conceptual thinking skills: must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation given that a large part of the role is based on operational risk management
- Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a sound approach to controls management. Drive sustainable corrective actions by connecting control results to inherent risks.
- Strong communication skills: impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement across the lines of defense through intellect and interpersonal skills. Able to explain complex risk concepts in a clear and concise manner that is understood across different levels and types of organizations
- Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals and continually pursue best possible results. They should be able to drive and execute an agenda in a fluid environment. Ensure controls monitoring tasks and deliverables are prepared and completed per guidelines. Places high value on attention to detail. Reviews work products to ensure accuracy, deliverable quality and overall value.
- Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Highly motivated and self-directed with a strong sense of ownership
- Assist in special projects as needed
- People Management responsibilities - may manage a small team of associates
- Understanding of Federal and State regulations including BASEL II
- Analytical and operational knowledge to design, develop and implement compliance and controls monitoring strategies
- Skilled in risk assessment and controls concepts
- Experience with any of the following: control testing, regulatory testing, financial control testing (i.e. SOX)
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
- At least one year of Audit, Operational Risk Management or Compliance experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience with a Governance, Risk, or Control Application
- Master's Degree
- Risk Management Certification
- At least 3 years experience with quality assurance, or 3 years experience with quality assurance testing
- At least 3 years experience with Data analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Applications
