Duties

Prepares and reviews environmental documents including Environmental Assessments (EA). Environmental
Impact Statements (EIS). Categorical Exclusions (CATEXs). Records of Decision (ROD) and Finding of No
Significant Impact (FONSI).

Forecasts future resource needs to manage emerging environmental issues. Conducts studies, surveys, and audits to identify environmental problems and provides corrective guidance. Works directly with Legal Counsel and the FAA Office of Environment and Energy on issues and guidance on environmental projects and initiatives.

Provides aviation specific environmental guidance to support FAA management and facilities, DoD proponents, and Third Party developers on environmental regulations in accordance with FAA Order 1050.1E and FAA Order 8900.1. Coordinates compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other federal and/state regulations as it relates to environmental reviews, aircraft noise analysis, and other NEPA policy relating items.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes Experience preparing and reviewing federal actions for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), associated laws and its implementing regulations, policies, and guidelines issued by the Council on Environmental Quality. Experience conducting environmental studies and analyses, including development of documents such as Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Assessments (EA), related to controversial, complex, novel, or highly unusual technologies under NEPA. Experience preparing technical documentation for special purpose environmental laws and regulations, such as those related to cultural resources, threatened and endangered species, noise, water quality and wetlands, and air quality as applicable to related orders or notices.
