As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Beltsville, Maryland region.Responsibilities- Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals- Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll- Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties- Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies- Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation- Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed- Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection- Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations Requirements - Expertise in Construction Accounting- Sage 300 experience- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis- Vow to meet business deadlines- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills- Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required- Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks- CPA or MBA preferred- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus- Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds- Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism wellRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
