National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a full-time Design Manager to join the Marketing and Communications team. This energetic, creative, and passionate professional will play a key role in celebrating springtime throughout Washington, DC and surrounding areas.Organization DescriptionThe National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc. is dedicated to promoting the beauty of nature and international friendship through year-round programs, events, and educational initiatives that enhance our environment, showcase arts and culture, and build community spirit.Scope of workThe Design Manager will support the National Cherry Blossom Festival's Marketing and Communications Department, which is responsible for branding initiatives, the Festival's website and social media channels, marketing the Festival's events and programs, and external relations, including working with the press, publications, and advertising. The department's objective is to sustain the profile, visibility, and reputation of the Festival, support communications-related benefits for corporate and community sponsors, and increase audience awareness and motivation to engage with Festival events. The Design Manager will report to the Director of Marketing & Communications and be responsible for overseeing the coordination, production, and schedules of multiple-source print and digital campaigns. Duties include but are not limited to* Manage the Festival's overall campaign creative development process, liaising with vendors and meeting stated deadlines for successful implementation of project and campaign goals and objectives, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications, the MarComm team, and other departments* Maintain the Festival's brand integrity through consistent and applied use of Festival brand, look & feel, and stylistic standards* Design original artwork for projects, working with internal team members to conceptualize, scope, design and present content while analyzing such factors as subject matter, tone, mood, intended audience, usage, distribution, budget, timeframe, required brand standards, and specifications* Effectively present creative concepts to internal teams and stakeholders with thoughtful rationale and professionalism in collaboration with Director of Marketing & Communications and Sponsorship Liaison to shepherd deliverables through the internal approval process.* Manage the design and production of graphic materials for print, digital media, and retail merchandise deliverables, working with Director of Marketing & Communications on overall design strategy, delegating design projects equitably among staff, vendors, and contractors, and leveraging project management software to maintain deadlines, ensure consistency, and allow for accurate tracking and reporting* Curate and manage visual Festival assets, including photo and video, ensuring ease of access and distribution with clear and consistent use guidelines for staff, vendors, partners, and supporters* Support other Marketing & Communications and organizational initiatives as assigned.Time Commitment* Ability to work in a hybrid office environment* Evening and weekend availability to follow through on executing key Festival programs and events onsite in March and AprilQualifications* 3-5 years of design experience, with expertise in using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator* Experience with project management of multiple simultaneous campaigns, from planning and strategy to execution, background in defining and refining processes and procedures is a plus* Passion for community engagement, the arts, and international friendship* Creative and collaborative work style with ability to work independently and under pressure* Ability to craft timely, accurate, and concise design creative and visual communications tailored to a variety of audiences* Adaptable and agile: can organize multiple work assignments and set priorities, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities within a frenetic yet rewarding environment* Ethical, tactful, and diplomatic approach with a strong service mindset* Strong relationship management skills* Comfort with digital platforms required to complete work* Experience with the following platforms is a plus: Monday.com, MailChimp, Slack, WordPress/Elementor, SmugMugAdditional Requirements* Selected candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide supporting documentation of their vaccination status.Compensation and BenefitsWe offer competitive salary commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, 401k plan, transit subsidy, 12 paid holidays, sick and annual leave, and more.
