Use both manual and automated technologies existing in the laboratory. . Independently develop and improve existing technologies required for the Molecular Diagnostics Section program under a direction of lab technical director; develop and revise SOPs for extraction of DNA from bodily fluids such as cerebrospinal fluid or improve an existing custom next generation sequencing (NGS) assay and other procedures. . Macrodissect tissues of interest from unstained slides using manual or automated technologies. . Independently perform newly laboratory developed DNA and RNA Next-generation sequencing assays. The assay procedure is highly complex and involve over 100 steps for library preparation. The final libraries are sequenced on a high throughput sequencer, Illumina NextSeq 550 or NovaSeq 600. The results are used for pathology diagnosis, therapy, and clinical research. . Account for and accession submitted materials into the Laboratory's existing databases, including SoftPath and COMPASS LIMS. . Track orders and material workflow in existing databases, including CRIS, SoftPath and COMPASS LIMS. . Ensure compliance with CAP and CLIA laboratory regulations. . Adhere to policies set forth for the protection of human subjects' research and patient care privacy laws; abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and the Federal Privacy Act. . Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with regulatory requirements mandated by LP's accrediting bodies. . Organize the lab daily operation tasks.
