Duties/Responsibilities: General Job Description MPR has a wide and growing client base in the fields of power and energy, federal services, and health and life sciences. We work throughout the United States as well as internationally. Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, we also have offices in East Lyme, Connecticut and Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Candidates should be interested in electrical power systems and equipment, power systems analysis techniques, rotating electric machines, power electronics, metering, relaying, and control systems or designing hardware and software for various embedded platforms. Typical projects at MPR last from 2-12 months and are completed by project teams of 2-10 engineers. At any one point in time, a typical MPR engineer will be working on 2-3 projects simultaneously. MPR regularly provides training opportunities - many of which occur on-the-job with senior engineers who are recognized industry-wide as experts in their fields. Some of MPR's most interesting projects provide the opportunity to travel to client sites, test facilities or supplier's facilities. Although employees are based out of one of our several offices, they should expect a moderate amount of travel based on the specific requirements of their projects. Expected career progression includes developing technical expertise as well as increasing responsibility for project management, supervision, client relations, and business development. Qualifications: The ideal candidate is an engineer with a strong working knowledge of engineering first principles who is a proficient writer and communicator, and has the ability to work both independently and with others. The candidate should be able to communicate and work closely with senior engineers and clients to solve problems. Successful candidates will possess a strong academic record and be highly motivated self-starters. In addition, successful candidates will have the following skills and capabilities:Strong analytical skills including the ability to problem solveAptitude to work outside of engineering discipline and quickly learn new conceptsAdvanced computer skills preferred, including analysis programs such as MATLAB-Simulink(R), ETAP, and EMTPExcellent oral and written communication skills Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of an organizationPersistent, questioning attitude and ability to accept that in othersFollow through with all tasks and assignments in a timely mannerAttention to detailStrong desire to grow as a professionalMPR must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as client requirements related to the COVID-19 virus.
