Description of Position: The National Security Agency (NSA) currently has opportunities available for highly motivated High Voltage Technicians with industrial/commercial experience. This well-rounded team of professionals is responsible for high, medium, and low voltage electrical power installations. Responsibilities include emergency and supplemental power generation, primary (HV/MV) and secondary (LV) electrical substations, overhead and underground power distribution, SCADA systems, digital and analog control systems, protective relaying equipment, large scale UPS systems, building services, switchgear, power conditioning equipment, as well as general lighting, grounding, and lightning protection systems. Operate and maintain high voltage electrical systems such as main switchgear, relays, generators, uninterruptible power systems (UPS), power panels, lights, outlets, motors and controls operating at up to 115,000 volts. In addition, the candidate shall adapt work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, emergencies, or unexpected obstacles. Have the ability to articulate viewpoints and answers to customers, peers, and supervisors in an effective manner, both written and orally. Identify and analyze technical issues, reporting, and documentation and attend project status briefings. Completion of formal training in a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program is preferred and/or military experience in the Prime Power Production Specialist MOS with Instrumentation or Electrical Specialties. Salary Range: $31,305 - $65,831 (Entry/Developmental) * The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Entry is with a high school diploma or GED and no experience. Must have Vocational/Technical training in an Electrical related field (eg, Electronics, Electricity, High Voltage, Telecommunications, and Circuitry) and/or relevant military training. Experience as a technician (or similar role) in the electrical or high voltage field is desired. Salary Range: $61,947 - $80,532 (Full Performance) * The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. Degree must be in an Electrical related field (eg, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, Fiber Optics, and Microwave Transmission). Relevant experience must be as a technician (or similar role) in the electrical or high voltage field and include participation in a state recognized apprenticeship program. Salary Range: $74,950 - $138,868 (Senior) * The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 6 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. Degree must be in an Electrical related field (eg, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, Fiber Optics, and Microwave Transmission). Relevant experience must be as a technician (or similar role) in the electrical or high voltage field and include participation in a state recognized apprenticeship program or completion of a journeyman electrician license.Salary is commensurate with education and experience. On-the job training, Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Rotating shift or fixed shift, 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts adjusted as necessary.
