The Trusts and Estates and Tax Operations practice within Wealth Management (WM) supports the Trusts & Estates practice and WM Banking teams by coordinating and completing various domestic and foreign tax reporting obligations. The Client Tax Manager will be a key member of the Tax Operations team located in Chicago, IL and Newark, DE. The qualified candidate will be responsible for managing data elements that drive and impact various domestic regulatory reporting obligations. The ideal candidate will be driven by deadlines and willing to work some weekends and overtime during peak periods. With the firm operating in a hybrid work environment, an in-office presence is required weekly. The Client Tax Manager will manage a team whose primary objective is to ensure review of various data elements essential to accurate information reporting. The ideal, experienced candidate will have knowledge of various tax reporting functions, regulatory reporting requirements and be comfortable with high volumes, strict deadlines and sophisticated clients. A successful candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills to explain technical reporting positions to internal partners and external clients. The position requires exceptional organization and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and remediate rapidly. Core Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team of seasoned tax professionals Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely production of various tax reporting forms Develop an in-depth understanding of cross-functional business processes to identify opportunities for automation and an improved client experience Work on tax projects to improve current processes and procedures, and lead tax related initiatives, including cross LOB strategic initiatives Develop and maintain a control environment that would satisfy risk and audit requirements Analyze data for consistency and accuracy; liaise with appropriate team(s) and/or individual(s) to facilitate the required adjustments Coordinate data integrity reviews, across multiple platforms, with on-shore and off-shore teams Implement and support BAU processes and procedures for continuous information reporting and withholding compliance Provide tax education, training, and presentations to various client facing and tax documentation teams as needed Qualifications: Prior tax reporting experience (1099, 1042-S, 8966, etc.) and familiarity with core underlying processes required for a successful reporting season Highly organized and detail oriented Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with senior internal partners Strong decision-making capabilities, including the ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and influence change Deep understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and tax technical reporting concepts, including foreign currency, derivatives, wash sales, etc. Demonstrated ability to positively interface with internal teams, colleagues, and senior management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate tax issues in layman terms to business teams Ability to re-prioritize focus over a broad array of simultaneous deliverables Proficient computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Experience: 7+ years of experience with tax reporting, preferably involved with tax reporting, including 3+ years managing a team or reporting function Experience in a high-volume financial institution or public accounting firm preferred Advanced knowledge of tax statements and year-end reporting Experience with operations and product support preferred Experience in process improvement and process mapping preferred Advanced written and verbal communication skills required Willingness to accept direction and develop strong relationships required Advanced MS Excel skills required; experience with Alteryx preferred Education: BA/BS required Advanced degree or certification in tax or related discipline preferred JPMorgan Chase & Co., one of the oldest financial institutions, offers innovative financial solutions to millions of consumers, small businesses and many of the world's most prominent corporate, institutional and government clients under the JP Morgan and Chase brands.
