Adventist HealthCare Behavioral Health and Wellness seeks to hire an experienced Behavioral Health Counselor who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Behavioral Health Counselor you will:
• Organizes and conducts therapeutic activities such as dance, music, arts, crafts, social activities, trips, group discussions and special programs in according to what the patients' needs, capabilities, and interests are
• Participates in the development of a treatment plan for patients after evaluating the patients based off of their medical records
• Documents specialized therapy assessments, treatment plan, and progress notes in the patients' charts
• Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff by demonstrating knowledge of safety issues and proper use of equipment and supplies
• Assists in ordering and maintaining the Expressive Therapy supplies/equipment
• Observes changes in patients' behavior and health condition and reports to RN

Qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field, Master's degree preferred (e.g. recreation therapy, music therapy, art therapy)
• 2 years' experience in acute care psychiatric setting preferred
• Board Certification/registration preferred
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification

Work Schedule:

The Behavioral Health Counselor collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence based treatment and service for inpatient psychiatric patients in an environment aimed at continuous evaluation and improvement. This therapist conducts a program of therapeutic activities to assist participants to move toward improved functioning and attainment of individual treatment goals. He/she engages patients in art, recreation, painting, discussion groups, and movement therapy, and assists the Behavioral Health staff to co-lead effectively. He/she will document patients' responses to these services in accordance with regulatory standards. He/she will implement the therapeutic program as planned in the absence of the E.T. Coordinator.
