Principal Associate, Process Engineer - Commercial Client Support

As a Principal Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to engineer and deliver flawlessly executed processes that improve business efficiency and drive results within the Commercial Bank Commercial Client Support (CCS) team. You will create robust solutions and modify processes while collaborating with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the company's bottom line.

Commercial Client Support (CCS) is one of the largest divisions in the Commercial Bank, this team's scope is horizontal across the bank and, as such, it supports numerous critical processes and transactions of Treasury Products.By implementing innovative solutions and embracing technology, this team creates a reliable and unparalleled experience for our associates and clients.

The Strategy & Transformation team is comprised of collaborative change advisors who work across CCS, leveraging their significant expertise in analysis, process improvement, agile delivery, technology product management, and design thinking to translate business strategies into action.The Strategy & Transformation team is currently growing and searching for a Principal Process Engineer.

We are seeking a top-notch Principal Process Engineer to lead end-to-end process design and improvement work in the Commercial Banking's Treasury Management product value chain. This new role will primarily support the Treasury Management Onboarding processes, involving all TM Products.

Key responsibilities for this role in the Strategy & Transformation team include :
  • Developing a coherent destination strategic process structure and process designs
  • Creating business cases and working with stakeholders (Process/Product owners) to build consensus and inform priorities, and influencing leadership support for recommendations
  • Developing and driving a project schedule and managing all activities in an Agile fashion while keeping stakeholders updated at regular cadences.
  • Delivering changes in the end- to-end process both for incremental improvement as well as strategic transformation to the destination process
  • Monitoring delivered changes to ensure that the intended benefit was realized, and that any realized risks are reviewed and actioned as needed
  • Ensuring all processes meet process management standards, including those for critical business processes, as well as updating/creating controls to manage risks
  • Leveraging Business Process Management (BPM) tools like Process Maps, RACIs, FMEAs to define the current state of a process and make proactive recommendations to improve the process, and use these same tools to define a brand new or proposed process
  • Assessing feasibility and level of effort for process changes required by new products and services and driving implementation when appropriate
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive KPI's, with analytics and metrics teams
  • Establishing and managing a consolidated portfolio of improvement efforts and backlog
  • Identifying root causes of risk issues and events to drive process improvements mitigating these risks


Work at Home Technology Requirements:
  • A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
  • A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use cellular data (hot spot)
    • Cable or fiber connections are preferred
    • Internet service download speeds must be at least 5 mbps, with 10+ mbps preferred - check your download speed using a speed test. A sample one can be found here .     • Sustained ability to maintain latency less than 250 ms in voice calls is required
  • Hard wired connectivity is preferred, any use of wireless connectivity must be Private (non-public) and password protected through WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. If you have any questions about your encryption, please consult with your internet provider
    • A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network
  • Capital One reserves the right to request proof of internet provider, speed and service package from the associate
  • Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. Capital One reserves the right to modify internet service requirements with sixty (60) days notice.


Candidates must live within 100 miles driving distance from one of our hub locations based in Melville, NY, McLean, VA, Plano, TX or Richmond, VA.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Degree, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 2 years of process engineering experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 3 years process engineering experience
  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management or Project Management certification
  • At least 1 year of consulting experience
  • At least 1 year of experience working in an Agile environment
  • At least 1 year of project management within a matrix organization
  • Knowledge of treasury management and related banking products
  • At least 1 year of financial services, banking industry, operations, or risk experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) or the Google Suite
