Senior Business Analyst, People Strategy & Analytics, Talent Selection

The People Strategy & Analytics team assists different areas of Capital One by using data-driven approaches to help inform people and organization-related practices, programs, and processes. People Strategy & Analytics applies strategic thinking, advanced analytical techniques, and experimental research to uncover new insights and make informed decisions related to our most valuable assets: Capital One associates!

From recruiting & hiring to learning & development, diversity, engagement, employee retention, compensation, etc., our team will be the analytics engine supporting our business clients to build and sustain high performing teams. As a member of our team you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to solve open-ended, complex questions about how we should attract, develop, and retain top talent. You'll delve into major talent and people management initiatives, such as:
  • Using HR data to accelerate and improve recruiting and selection outcomes
  • Understanding how culture, learning, and talent management actions shape productivity and performance
  • Understanding and predicting associate turnover, and working with business leaders to boost retention

The Role

Talent Assessment is a cross-functional team of business & data analysts, data scientists, product managers & I/O psychologists. We build infrastructure that enables Capital One to assess and select great talent, either through in-house development or through tight partnerships with vendors. As a Sr. Business Analyst on the team, you'll be on the leading edge of applying analytics to talent in order to build strategies that expand Capital One's talent advantage. You'll work closely with our Talent Acquisition partners, data scientists & I/O Psychologists to better understand what great performance on the job looks like, and use those insights to drive innovative selection strategies that drive ROI, create a great candidate experience, diversify our workforce, and select the best fit talent for the role.

Specific Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Analysis: Connect people data to business performance data to generate relevant, actionable insights and make strategic and tactical recommendations
  • Strategic & analytic orientation: Exercise decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Leverage your analytical skills to connect data insights to understand and solve business challenges
  • Solution Design and Ownership: Leverage emerging technologies to prepare and deliver insights to our business partners in a scalable way. Design, develop, test, and implement new products and solutions
  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues and senior leaders in HR to provide insights that improve candidate experiences and business results
  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: Able to bring a forward-leaning, yet responsible approach to transforming talent selection
  • Strong communication skills : Impeccable written and oral communication skills, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive consensus around complex decisions


Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree

• At least 1 year of experience in quantitative analysis

• At least 1 year of experience in qualitative analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree

• 2+ years of experience in people or workforce analytics

• 1+ years of experience in consulting

• 2+ years of experience in quantitative analysis

• 2+ years of experience in qualitative analysis
•1+ year of experience in product development

•1+ years of experience in economic forecasting
• 1+ years of experience in project management
