Duties

  • You will review log-requirements in order to schedule and assist in coordinating utility services for all vessels.
  • You will review and advise the chief scheduler as to availability of requested services and make recommendations as to alternative solutions.
  • You will attend weekly scheduler meetings providing input to the berthing plan.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.


Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Complies with all applicable local, state, and Federal Environmental Laws and regulations; 2) Designs and plan ship arrivals for docking with relationship to mechanical, electrical, water, sewer and waste water hookup; 3) Adjusts for unplanned ship arrivals; and 4) Manages any changing environments upon inclement weather such as hurricanes.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Graduate education providing the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work of the position may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree
OR
Possession of an LL.M. if related
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Physical Demands
The work is of a sedentary nature though it can be accompanied by periods of waling in all weather conditions to determine system status. No special physical demands are required to perform work.

Work Environment
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. A majority of the work is performed indoors where the employee works under the pressure of competing priorities and deadlines. Work may also be performed inside and outside in an environment that may be hot, humid, dusty, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. Exposed to normal hazards associated with construction work, industrial operations and prevailing weather conditions. Required to wear appropriate personal protection equipment.
