Accounting Assistant II Hours of Work: Monday through Friday: 8:30AM-5:00PM To the extent permitted by law, the Company may, in its sole discretion, change the work schedule to address business needs. Work hours will depend on the business hours of the time zone serviced. In This Role, You Will Use advanced experience to perform accounting functions relative to bank reconciliations, cash management, general ledger account reconciliations, daily balancing, posting, and system account maintenance. You will serve as the lead for Accounting functions and be a mentor with training and skill development for the team. Responsibilities: * Thoroughly processes and analyzes various complex reports from the General Ledger (G/L). * Researches and resolves issues/discrepancies found in the G/L and bank balancing reports. * Meets strict deadlines with accuracy and efficiency. Assists team with meeting goals and understanding urgent priorities. * Opens bank accounts for new branch openings independently. * Proficiently maintains accounting functions in the Accounting software. * Independently performs complicated bank reconciliations. Prepares reconciliations for all liability and equity accounts. * Expertly maintains standard journal entries, fixed assets, and prepaid assets for month-end close. * Monitors new branch development to ensure all accounts and ledgers are set up prior to opening. Investigates and resolves all issues. * Monitors company disbursement accounts to identify/prevent fraud while processing exceptions on the banks' positive pay system. Reports issue resolutions to manager. * Monitors company ACH transactions to identify/prevent fraud. Resolves issues and keeps detailed documentation for reporting. * Performs daily/weekly/monthly account reconciliations on corporate bank and general ledger accounts. * Performs ACH & Debit card reconcilements. * Assists in training/managing Accounting Assistant as needed. Mentors processes and procedures and institutes best practices. * May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service. Required Qualifications: * Five or more (5+) years of experience in a public or corporate accounting role. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Excellent computer skills with knowledge of common bookkeeping and spreadsheet programs such as strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office. * Superior attention to detail, strong organizational skills, aptitude for accuracy and problem-resolution. * Advanced research/investigative skills and strong math skills. * Leadership skills to model best practices and advocate process improvement through training. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
