The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for a Part Time Graphic Designer to provide support to the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command's(NAVWAR's) Program Executive Office (PEO) for Manpower, Digital out of the National Capital Region (NCR). The PEO MLB program encompasses Administrative, Total Force Management Support, and Corporate Communications & Public Affairs Support, Command Operations, and Support, and IT Management Support services. JOB DESCRIPTION: Design, modify, and/or create graphics to meet specific commercial and/or promotional needs (eg packaging, displays, and logos) Use a variety of mediums (ie print and/or digital) to achieve artistic or decorative effects. Execute content management for various media types including print, visual, and web content to illustrate messages such as mission and goals for the assigned Government organization. Prepare, update, and maintain a record of all publication submissions, the submission date, organization point of contact information, date of publication or rejection, and the reason for rejections, if applicable. Prepare, coordinate, and provide comments, questions, and recommendations for publications. Prepare, coordinate, and provide comments, questions, and recommendations for editorial policies and guidelines. Research, prepare, and edit articles highlighting topics of interest for target audiences. Assist with web-based communications, to include SharePoint web design capability. Comply with all applicable federal and local governance related to website management. Prepare and implement an effective and efficient process for posting information cleared for public release and approved by the Government. Update websites, to include associated links to data (for the assigned Government organization. Establish and test the website links, which result in minimal downtime during normal business hours. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure website links are active and reachable by users. Schedule approved updates in accordance with the assigned Government organization's schedule. Post approved and updated website content to support the assigned Government organization. This requirement involves receiving approval from the PEO PAO prior to performing any changes to the website. Provide comments, questions, and recommendations for practical web-based technologies that can be implemented to support communication efforts; and leverage new web tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of communications activities through the designated PEO and/or Government organization PAO. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Ability to learn and apply technical concepts to assigned duties Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and data mining skills Excellent oral and written skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to work independently and as a team member Ability to be responsive to dynamic changes in the client's requirements Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Proficient in graphic design software (eg Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Publisher) DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree-3 years' experience. Substitution: 6 years of additional relevant work experience, Associate's Degree plus 4 years of additional relevant work experience.
