Job Summary

The Washington Post is seeking a Product Marketer to join its Product marketing team. The Editorial Sponsorships Marketing Managers, Product Marketing Manager, and Sr. Sponsorship Coordinators lead the development of the go-to-market positioning and strategy for The Washington Post's editorial and commercial product portfolio. As an Editorial Sponsorship Marketing Manager, you will collaborate with the organization's client solutions team and stakeholders to effectively position and develop compelling packages and opportunities to market for our clients. A passion for creative storytelling and the bravery to allow yourself to be innovative are a must. This role reports to the Manager, Product Marketing.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison with editorial to provide additional storytelling and talking points to client partners.
  • Collaborate with editorial and product teams to identify and develop unique sponsorship opportunities to bring to market
  • Work directly with the sales team on training that enables them to communicate the unique value proposition of select WaPo products effectively.
  • Lead weekly meetings with Client Partners, Ad Ops, Pricing, and Client Services to inform stakeholders of the development of new products and product solutions
  • Partner with Program Manager to create product alignments and sponsorship solutions across WaPo properties
  • Create and manage all product-focused marketing materials, old and new, succinctly and persuasively demonstrating their value and showing the clear client benefits of using WaPo products, audience, and WaPo brand alignment across different client needs
  • Provide industry/vertical materials and product collateral to sales teams to allow them to be effective on sales calls, pitch presentations, and VIP meetings to showcase our products and advertiser-specific ideas directly to clients
  • Lead the development and make recommendations to establish package elements and product pricing/ packaging, models
  • Analyze the performance of our products, infuse audience and market insights/data back into our marketing materials, working closely with our performance analytics team
  • Identify opportunities to implement effective content distribution strategies with The Creative Group where WaPo, newsletter, and app products can provide a platform to add scale and efficiency.


Qualifications
  • Must possess a keen understanding of the news/journalism/media business and have a respect for content and the creative/editorial process
  • At least six years of work experience, 2-3 years of experience in digital media (newsroom, publishing)
  • Collaborative nature and deep interest in culture, high-quality journalism, and high-quality technology; highly motivated by an insatiable desire to make great things.
  • Ability to take ownership of key initiatives and drive from ideation to execution
  • Ability to collaborate and excel in a fast-paced environment, leveraging prioritization skills to ensure you are adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including strong presentation and writing skills and professional communication with colleagues and senior-level stakeholders
  • Must be able to build trust and relationships easily
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite is mandatory.
  • B.A. in Communication/Marketing/Business
