Project Manager

Capital One's Platform Services team is searching for a proactive, bright, organized, and enthusiastic individual to join our team. As a Project Manager, you will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have an impact to improve the customer experience.

We are seeking a dedicated, disciplined, driven professional who excels in a team environment with excellent communication and collaboration skills; essential for interacting and communicating with our Line of Business, Product and Tech teams at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes. This individual will have a proven track record of bringing analytical insights to bear and the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage operations in a dynamic, complex environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role.

The Project Manager will report to the Director of Business Operations/Chief of Staff of the Platform Services organization. They will work side-by-side with leaders within Platform Services, Professional Services, Marketing, Technology, Finance and Design and partner closely with leaders across Capital One.

This position requires excellent interpersonal communication and strong leadership skills. Building rapport and credibility with multiple stakeholders across the organization, regardless of level, is essential. Natural agility and flexibility in fast-changing and undefined situations is a must. This person will support the execution of several high visibility programs concurrently.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to strategically plan, communicate across the organization, influencing as appropriate, and making decisions quickly and effectively.

The Project Manager role is a combination or program management and operational responsibilities supporting the Vice President for Internal Products (The Exchange) in Platform Services . This person will be responsible for strategic planning and alignment, communications, business planning, program management and performance tracking. Responsibilities include financial and personnel management and supporting/defining the operating rhythms for the Exchange team.

A successful candidate will be able to:
  • Design, develop, and manage processes in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
  • Leverage problem solving and influencing skills to ensure products and processes deliver on business intent
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive process improvements and operational stability
  • Ensure processes are documented appropriately to mitigate risk and to be delivered on time
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
  • Effectively identify and solve problems independently in a constantly changing environment
  • Must be highly organized and process oriented with attention to detail, but still be able to function at the strategic level to establish context and sound reasoning for data driven decision making
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to "bring order to chaos" when required
  • Must be able to manage others through influence to effectively achieve goals
  • Must be comfortable discussing community topics and identifying and managing issues
  • Execute on large cross team projects
  • Understand developing metrics driven product and evolution
  • Must have prior experience with e-commerce, including an understanding of applications, business processes and economics


Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage an effective continuous improvement processes for the Exchange team
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and functional performers to capture, track and drive resolution of defects and enhancements
  • Analyze, identify, and track issues across multiple products and teams
  • Facilitate data updates and communicate impacts to key performers and stakeholders
  • Manage program communications, leveraging central repository for archival of artifacts
  • Planning and Forecasting: Includes financial and resource planning and forecasting in collaboration with Platform Service Chief of Staff.
  • Program Management: Lead teams and drive delivery within large projects across diverse teams and locations to timely completion. Delegate and escalate appropriately to overcome obstacles and communicate program status and team achievements. Instill a fun team environment for successful collaboration and creative problem solving.
  • Operating Rhythms: Create and manage effective, scalable processes to manage the platform organization operating rhythms. Support operating rituals to ensure ongoing success for the platform organization such as reviews, metrics/analytics, all hands, off sites, staff meetings, global & regional updates and visits.
  • Operational Alignment: Bridge relationships across Platform Services and the Exchange team to increase visibility and improve on efficiencies of the organizations leveraging the Exchange platform.
  • Communication: Create, drive and maintain communications; within the Exchange team, throughout Platform Services. Partner with key stakeholders to plan and deliver company and product focused communications to internal and external audiences.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Process, Program or Project Management.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience in Process, Program or Project Management.
  • MBA degree.
