Hiring Range Max: $51,952.00 Hiring Range Min: $43,293.00
Position Summary/Purpose of Position: The Business Services Specialist serves as the Assistant to the Director of ESSIC and assists with business/administrative work for the ESSIC Business Office. This position will be a member of the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center Business Office (EBO)under the direction of the EBO Associate Director of Financial & Administration. Procurement/Travel and Financial processing along with file management for the department.
Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE: Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferences: Experience supporting a Senior Leader or department head. Experience with Kuali. Financial Systems and Demonstrated proficiency in Excel. Experience at a higher education institution. -Knowledge of and experience with UMD systems preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
-Must have the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate by phone, video, electronic media, and written correspondence in a clear and professional manner.
-Demonstrated organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment is required.
-Must have demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels within the organization.
-Demonstrated experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and cloud-based collaborative file sharing products.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
-Must be self-motivated detail oriented and have the ability to work effectively within a busy environment.
Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
