Responsibilities
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team of 5 -10 professionals with broad backgrounds and advanced technical skills
- Perform, review, manage, and oversee a variety technical and computational tasks
- Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching staff
- Oversee the skill development and career advancement of staff
- Serve as a technical liaison and ambassador internally and externally
- Monitor progress against project scope, schedule, budget, and quality; allocate resources as required to meet milestones
- Work closely with the Digital Solutions and Technology Program manager
- Develop innovative and technical solutions for successful delivery of engineering projects
- Ensure quality standards are in place, implemented, and maintained
- Contribute to business development, proposal writing and growing the coastal and riverine engineering practice
Required Skills & Required Experience
Required Skills:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Earth Science or Engineering
- 5-10 years of experience in science, engineering, or technology
- Demonstrated experience with open-source geospatial data, analytics, and software applications
- Experience in multiple software engineering languages and frameworks
- Strong understanding of data modeling and engineering
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience and understanding of Agile methodologies and tools
- Experience mentoring junior and senior staff
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency in cloud computing with a preference for AWS and Azure
- Demonstrated mastery of version control systems and processes
- Experience with IT networking and system administration
- Experience with RESTful API's and documentation
- Strong knowledge of hydrology and flood hazards analysis and processes
- Experience with Flood modeling software and approaches
- Experience in business development and proposal writing
Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
