Dewberry is currently seeking a Project Engineer for its Fairfax, VA office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with resilience planning, modeling and computing teams in executing engineering and data analytics projects.
  • Coordinate with the visualization team to explore modern technology solutions and produce feature rich, user-friendly visualization products.
  • Work with the project managers and help in proposal writing and intel gathering.
  • Assist in resilience projects planning and execution, owning specific project modules.
  • Follow best practices and standards for developing data models and implement analytical solutions.


Required Skills & Required Experience

Required Skills (you don't need to have them all to apply):
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Urban/Resilience planning, Water Resources, GIS or other relevant technical field.
  • At least 5 years' experience in data analysis and visualization projects, preferably with natural hazard and risk analysis data.
  • Experience as technical lead or management lead on big data projects involving proprietary and open-source geospatial data.
  • Ability to work independently using strong organizational skills and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiar with Tableau, PowerBI or similar business intelligence and data analytics software.
  • Familiar with Python scripting language for big data processing.
  • Excellent problem-solving, verbal and written communication, design, development, and debugging skills.

Desired Skills:
  • Working knowledge of relational database managements systems such as SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager
  • Familiarity with Water Resources concepts such as Sea Level Rise, Hydrology, and other riverine/coastal impacts analysis.

Familiarity with FEMA programs such as NFIP, Risk MAP and CNMS.
