NJVC is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support a large enterprise IT contract for the DOD.
Responsibilities
- Experience with interacting with customers to handle service inquiries and problems.
- Provide technical support, administration, and monitoring of Linux, Microsoft, and Mac systems within a VMware virtual environment.
- Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
- Distinguish isolated user problems from enterprise-wide application/system problems.
- Perform technical software configuration, rebooting, and other remedial actions on customer servers.
- Work in a team environment to ensure mission needs are met and ensure the functionality of the capabilities of customers.
- Provide systems and software operations and maintenance support in a large, multi-enclave enterprise environment.
- Interact with other administrators to handle service inquiries and problems.
- Analyze recurring problems and initiate solutions for preventing reoccurrence and analyze existing infrastructure for tuning/performance enhancements.
- Examine customer problems and suggest and implement appropriate corrective action to initiate a repair or return to service.
- Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, develop, and implement solutions associated with incident tickets and requirements.
- Develop solutions to complex technical issues.
- Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, resolution steps taken) for Root Cause Analysis, engineering technical assessment, and process improvement initiatives.
- Support customer requirements in a 24/7/365 environment and be able to provide on-call support during outages occurring after hours.
- Update operations and monitoring documentation for 24/7/365 Operations Watch personnel.
- Other duties as asasigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 4+ years of prior relevant experience. Years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree
- Candidate must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP)
- Experience with Tier 2 system administration of server operating systems such as Linux (CentOS, RHEL, or Ubuntu) and Microsoft Server (2012 R2/2016)
- Experience with Scripting/Automation through Linux Shell scripts, PowerShell, PowerCLI, or other scripting languages
- Experience troubleshooting issues in a growing environment
- Experience with log reviews, incident analysis, and identification of issue trends
- Experience with server patch management methodologies
- Active TS/SCI Clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Foundational knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services and the cloud ecosystem.
- Familiarity with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts and solutions such as Dell VXRail.
- Detail-oriented in order to capture customer inquiries appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
- Technical experience with administering Linux and Windows servers within a VMware virtual environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.
- Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it.
